Simon Cowell is mourning the death of Liam Payne, the One Direction star who tragically passed away this week at just 31 years old.
Payne, who was on vacation in Argentina, reportedly started behaving erratically before falling from his third-floor balcony. According to the Forensic Medical Corps at the Judicial Morgue, Payne died from multiple traumas that led to internal and external bleeding.
"Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life," doctor Alberto Crescenti said, per the US Sun.
"Based on what the team saw, there was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death."
In the wake of his death, Cowell made the decision to postpone auditions for "Britain's Got Talent."
"Due to the tragic passing of Liam Payne, BGT has decided to postpone today's auditions in Blackpool. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause," ApplauseStore, which manages tickets for the show, announced via X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
The company also paid tribute to Payne in a separate post.
"We are devastated about the very sad news about @LiamPayne. We send our love, strength and condolences to all his loved ones, family and friends at this incredibly difficult time," it said.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, auditions were set to take place in Blackpool, England, but were called off at the last minute.
Cowell helped form One Direction in 2010 during his stint on X Factor.
