Meet The Daughter Of The Chiefs' Owner (1:30)

Things have gone from bad to worse for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown this year.

After initially being ruled out for an indefinite amount of time as he prepares to undergo surgery on an injured shoulder, a new update on the former first-round pick now has him ruled out for the entirety of the 2024 regular season.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, after Brown was placed on injured reserve on Friday, he is not expected to play in the regular season at all this year.

"Breaking: Chiefs WR Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, who was placed on injured reserve Friday because of a shoulder injury that requires surgery, is not expected to play in the 2024 regular season, sources tell (Adam Schefter)," the outlet reported.

Fans were gutted to hear the news:

"I was really hoping he was gonna breakout this year, you hate to see it," one user wrote.

"No!!! Well get better soon we'll need you in the playoffs," wrote another.

"This sucks!" a third said bluntly.

It certainly does, particularly for Brown, who was likely hoping to parlay the one-year deal he signed with the Chiefs this past offseason into a long-term deal either in Kansas City or as a free agent in 2025.

You hate to see it, but perhaps Brown will be back in time for a playoff run if that's on the table.
