A shooting has reportedly broken out just off Ohio State's campus on Wednesday evening.

OSU Emergency Management announced on Wednesday evening that a shooting broke out on High Street, the main street that runs through Ohio State's Columbus, Ohio campus. The shooting reportedly took place at 11th and High Street. Police are responding. 

Students and faculty are asked to shelter in place.

"A shooting has occurred at 11th & High St Police are responding. Avoid the area & remain indoors. More info will be sent when available," Ohio State announced.

"Continue to shelter in place. Police are investigating and circulating on and off campus."

Ohio State University is home to more than 60,000 students. The campus is one of the biggest in the country.

Many Ohio State University students live right off campus in streets past High Street, where the shooting took place on Wednesday evening.
