Kendrick Perkins Reportedly 'Excluded' From Honor Given To Former Celtics

Kendrick Perkins played for the Boston Celtics for the first eight seasons of his career.

During that time, he helped the team win a championship and was generally regarded as one of the better defensive centers in the league at the time.

Despite mostly being known for his time in Boston and helping the team win one of their coveted 18 championships, another former Celtic says Perkins isn't treated like some of his former teammates.

"It's not really an open arms thing with Kendrick Perkins," Brian Scalabrine said on his Sirius XM show "The Starting Lineup."

Scalabrine originally referred to comments from current Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla at the beginning of the season.

"I hope that any and every Celtic feels like they can come to any practice or any game and be a part of that," Mazzulla told NBC Sports Boston, extending an invitation to any ex-Celtics who want to support the team.

Perkins has been critical of the Celtics during his career as an analyst with ESPN, calling out Mazzulla and star Jayson Tatum at different points.

Perkins was not present at the Celtics' championship parade on Thursday, which seems to be consistent with the team choosing not to associate with him anymore.

We've seen other former Celtics like Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett stay on good terms with the team, even if they played for other teams during their careers.

Perkins spent time on the Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Pelicans, but he is largely known for being a piece of Boston's 2008 championship team.

It seems that the team isn't willing to acknowledge him with the rest of the roster.
