On Friday, gunfire was heard during a field hockey match between Saint Louis University and La Salle. That led to players evacuating the field as quickly as possible.

During the fourth period, you can clearly hear gunshots on ESPN's broadcast. Once that happened, every single player at Howarth Field ran for their lives. It was a pretty scary scene to say the least. The announcers calling this match for ESPN were unsure what happened.

"Players are running off the field right now," the announcer for ESPN said. "There were some loud noises and it looks like players are evacuating the field right now."

Instead of making the players come back onto the field, this match was called. As a result, La Salle picked up a 1-0 win over Saint Louis.

Jennifer Griffin, the vice president and chief for public safety at Temple, released a statement on this horrifying incident.

"At this time, no shooter has been identified, and there are believed to be no victims," Griffin said, via ABC. "The shots were fired in the vicinity of an off-campus fast-food restaurant on Broad Street. The Philadelphia Police Department is leading this investigation."

The Philadelphia Police provided a few details about this shooting. First off, it took place at a Kentucky Fried Chicken parking lot. The police also revealed that a weapon was not recovered at the scene of the crime.

Saint Louis and La Salle's athletic directors have not yet commented on this incident.

Our thoughts are with those who were understandably traumatized by Friday's shooting.
