It’s been a long time coming, but Will Ospreay is finally and officially out of The Don Callis Family as of the July 3, 2024 edition of AEW Dynamite.

Over the past few months, Ospreay has distanced himself from Callis in various ways, rarely ever teaming with any of his stablemates and certainly not partaking in any of their villainous activities. That extended into Ospreay’s two most recent pay-per-view matches, wherein he struggled with Callis trying to convince him to do more dastardly attacks, like using a screwdriver on Swerve Strickland this past weekend at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door.

On tonight’s Beach Break episode of Dynamite, all of this was addressed in an interview segment with Renee Paquette.

Ospreay thanked Callis for his guidance and help over the years, but flat out asked to be let go from his contract with the faction.

Callis took a moment, but agreed to let Ospreay go, saying that he normally doesn’t, but he’d make an exception and that he’s “okay with doing him this favor.” Notably, he then put out the ominous note that maybe, some day, he’ll ask him for a favor in return.

As everyone knows, whenever a sleazy person with a position of power puts it out there that they’ll call upon you in the future for a favor, it is never going to be a good thing. Ospreay will certainly have a tough decision to make down the line whenever Callis comes calling for that favor to be returned.

Also noteworthy was Kyle Fletcher, who had been standing between the two during the segment. He was silent the entire time, but chose to leave with Callis—although not before giving Ospreay a glance and a head nod that will surely come back into play at some point, too.
