UFC bantamweight prospect Payton Talbott broke his silence after a shocking loss to Raoni Barcelos on the UFC 311 prelims.
Payton Talbott was thought of as almost an insurmountable favorite heading into his fight with Raoni Barcelos at UFC 311. The talented 26-year-old bantamweight dominated his previous three UFC outings, but at UFC 311, he fell short during one of his few in-the-cage moments of fighting adversity.
Talbott lost to Barcelos by unanimous decision at UFC 311 for the first defeat of his professional MMA career. Despite a late comeback bid anchored by some dangerous flying knees, Talbott’s rally wasn’t enough to change the tide on the judges’ scorecards.
Talbott entered UFC 311 as the biggest betting favorite on the card entering his fight with Barcelos. His 19-second knockout in his most recent outing over Yanis Ghemmouri was enough for many to give Barcelos little chance against Talbott in their matchup.
Barcelos’ wrestling smothered Talbott from start to finish, as well as his timely striking as the fight went on. After an up-and-down start to his UFC tenure, Barcelos earned arguably the biggest win of his career at UFC 311.
It didn’t take long for Talbott to issue his first post-fight remarks on social media, albeit in an indirect method.

In a recent Instagram story post, Talbott shared a meme/video of a man saying ‘I lost’ as a flurry of supporters blanketed him with cheers. The post got a lot of traction on social media in his first post-fight comments.
For the first time in his professional career, Talbott will look to bounce back from defeat and get back on track in the Octagon in his next appearance. The former Dana White’s Contender Series standout defeated Nick Aguirre, Cameron Saaiman, and Ghemmouri entering UFC 311.
Talbott won his first nine professional fights entering the clash with Barcelos. Before getting a DWCS invite, Talbott enjoyed successful stints in Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat and FirePower promotions.

Talbott earned a UFC contract by outpointing Reyes Cortez Jr. by unanimous decision during the 2023 season of DWCS. He got the attention of the UFC matchmakers by earning the A1 Combat bantamweight championship and defending the belt twice against Anthony Jimenez and Hector Fajardo.
Talbott topped Islam Makhachev,Umar Nurmagomedov, and other top names as the biggest betting favorite of the UFC 311 fight slate. He was one of the most decisive betting favorites in recent UFC history, joining the ranks of Bo Nickal and Isaac Dulgarian.
While Talbott’s beginning to 2025 wasn’t what he expected, he’ll look to get back on track in his next fight and move closer to the bantamweight Top 15.
