According to UFC fans, heavyweight champion Jon Jones has lost a lot of ‘aura’ as viral footage emerges of him on the basketball court.
This past November, Jon Jones finally returned to the UFC Octagon where he took on Stipe Miocic in his first heavyweight title defense.
‘Bones’ once again proved why he is considered the greatest fighter of all time when he finished Miocic in the third round.
Following the fight, the 37-year-old claimed that he will only fight interim champion, Tom Aspinall if he is paid ‘F*** you money’, with negotiations seemingly now underway for that fight to take place in 2025.
Fans mock Jon Jones as footage of him on the basketball court goes viral
After successfully defending his title, Jones is enjoying some time off from fighting and taking the Christmas period off.
And with that, the UFC heavyweight champion recently attended a basketball game on New Year’s Day between the New York Knicks and the Utah Jazz.
During the players’ pre-match throw-around, Jones was invited onto the court to show his skills with a ball in his hand.
Because he is considered the greatest fighter of all time, people automatically assume that he is also a tremendous athlete. He certainly comes from an athletic family, as his brother Chandler Jones has been one of the top linebackers in the NFL for several years.
Despite that, the UFC champion showcased exactly why he is fortunate his MMA career took off. He was given the opportunity to shoot four 3-pointers, and he not only missed them all, but he comically failed to even reach the rim.

After his first failed attempt, the on-looking players thought maybe the ball slipped from his hands and tossed him another ball. But he then threw another airball. Superstar player, Josh Hart joked and said: “You gotta hit the rim.”
A few more attempts later and he still couldn’t.
One fan commented: “There’s no reason a grown man should be missing like that.”
Another fan similarly mocked the champion, saying: “The aura loss is incredulous.”

“And that’s why he wrestled in high school,” another fan commented.
Jones who throughout his time at high school and college opted to wrestle instead of play basketball or American Football like his brother.
When could we see Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall?
With fans hopeful that we will see Jones fight at least once more in the Octagon, Aspinall seems to undoubtedly be the opponent.
UFC CEO Dana White recently claimed he is ‘100% confident’ that in 2025 that fight will happen. And that has led fans to question when it might.
Annually, the promotion runs its International Fight Week either at the end of June or the beginning of July, and usually, it is one of the biggest events of the year for the promotion.
That would be a perfect time and event for Jones to potentially make his final appearance in the sport.
