They’re keeping it. There have been all kinds of names moving from WWE to AEW and vice versa, which can create some issues. While there are some names who are best known under one moniker, there are others who are forced to change their names for one reason or another. That was the case with a certain WWE legend who moved over to AEW and now we know that WWE is keeping that name under wraps.

According to Wrestlingnews.co, WWE filed a trademark application for “Edge” earlier this week. There is nothing to suggest that this means Adam Copeland, who wrestled as Edge during his time in WWE, is returning to the company. Instead, this is likely WWE attempting to retain the trademark as it is a name they introduced. Copeland has been out of action since May with a broken leg.

You might remember him. Check out Copeland’s time as Edge:

Opinion: This is hardly the biggest surprise as WWE is not going to want Copeland to be able to use the Edge name. However, at the same time, it would not surprise me to see Copeland want to use his real name instead. It is the kind of thing that could save a few legal headaches and make things easier for him going forward, especially after his in-ring career ends.
