Tommy Edman hit two doubles, three RBIs Thursday night at Citi Field in the 10-2 win over the Mets.

Tommy Edman has been a standout for the Dodgers over their postseason run since he was acquired at the trade deadline. He put in another big time performance in Game 4 of the NLCS against the Mets at Citi Field with two doubles and three runs batted in in the 10-2 win.

Edman didn't play his first game for the Dodgers until Aug. 19 after he worked back from wrist surgery and a sprained ankle, but he quickly emerged as a key contributor during the team's run to the National League West division title and became a valuable contributor down the stretch with 22 starts in center field and 13 at shortstop.

He batted .237 with six home runs, 20 RBIs, a .711 OPS (101 OPS+), in 37 regular season games.

Edman didn't expect to have a large impact offensively in the postseason, but the versatile switch-hitter has exceeded expectations after he took over for the injured Miguel Rojas at shortstop.

So far Edman is 7-for-17 (.412) in the series with seven RBIs, throwing his name in the discussion for NLCS MVP.

Edman spoke to Ken Rosenthal about his success thus far with the Dodgers and in the playoffs.

"I've been hitting my stride the past couple of weeks," he told Rosenthal, and Edman is finally in midseason form after he worked back from injury.

Edman was a key contributor offensively in NLCS Game 2 with three of L.A.'s five hits, including a two-run single in the sixth inning that put the Dodgers back into the game.

Dave Roberts went with the hot bat in Game 4 and slotted the switch-hitter into the cleanup spot against left-hander Jose Quintana, promoting him from his usual eighth or ninth slot in the lineup against right-handers.

Edman didn't let Roberts down, and he collected another two clutch RBI hits to propel the Dodgers to the precipice of a World Series berth.

He doubled on a line drive to left fielder Brandon Nimmo in the third to drive in Shohei Ohtani and move Mookie Betts to third. Edman's second RBI double of the game came in the eighth on a sharp line drive to Nimmo again. Betts and Kevin Kiermaier scored.

The Dodgers front office coveted Edman for a while, and he was finally acquired by Andrew Friedman and the front office team at the trade deadline in July. He came over to L.A. with a year and a half left on his contract as part of a three-team trade with the Cardinals and White Sox. Michael Kopech also came to the Dodgers with the trade and has also proved to be highly valuable to the Dodgers on their quest for a championship.

If Edman stays hot and continues to impact the Dodgers this postseason offensively and defensively, he'll be able to celebrate his first career World Series win.
