2022 MLB All-Star Game Jerseys Bring Back Team Names

The 2022 MLB All-Star Game jerseys take inspiration from Hollywood but also revert back to featuring team names after Nike drew criticism for their designs last year. The 2021 All-Star Game, which MLB moved from Truist Park in Atlanta to Coors Field in Denver, had players dressed in more of a henley than jersey that featured a three-letter abbreviation to represent respective team names. Nike and MLB have now reverted back to a more traditional look for the 2022 All-Star Game uniform, as each jersey will have a player’s team across the chest. However, rather than wear their usual road or home jersey, players are going to be donned in a gold-accented look. National League All-Stars will wear a white jersey and the American League is going to be dressed in dark gray. “The club-specific chest graphic is drawn from the gold sheen of Hollywood award shows,” Nike said in a statement. The left sleeve of all jerseys celebrates the individual player’s selection, and the right sleeve features a patch of the 2022 All-Star Game logo that also accompanies caps for the workout day and 92nd Midsummer Classic. That the jerseys draw from Hollywood is hardly a surprise when factoring in the All-Star Game logo unveiling very much had the same feel. That was first revealed in July 2019, and the Los Angeles Dodgers kept the design despite their hosting of the event getting delayed.
