Dodgers' Teoscar Hernández Leapfrogs NL West Rival in All-Star Voting

After his recent stellar play, Los Angeles Dodgers star slugger Teoscar Hernández is moving up the All-Star ballot. Hernández now sits third among National League outfielders, leapfrogging division rival, San Diego Padres slugger Fernando Tatis Jr.
Hernández rose from fourth to third, passing Tatis Jr., in the latest All-Star balloting update released Monday. The top six vote-getters in the outfield advance to the second round of voting, which begins Thursday.
Even though Hernández only has to be in the top six by Thursday to be eligible for a starting spot when rosters are announced, his move from fourth to third suggests he’s gained popularity since the first round of voting was announced one week ago.
Hernández, an American League All-Star in 2021, is on track to earn his second All-Star appearance in Arlington, Texas. Hernández deserves it — he’s been the Dodgers’ most productive outfielder by far, slashing .254/.321/.492 with a .813 OPS, 18 home runs, 54 RBIs, 77 hits, and four stolen bases in 79 games.
Hernández has been a revelation for the Dodgers, providing some much-needed pop to the lineup. His presence and performance have been incredibly huge when you add that the bottom of the lineup has been lackluster at best.
The Dodgers hoped for this kind of outcome when they signed the 31-year-old to a one-year contract in January. Thus far, he’s been worth every penny of his $23.5 million contract.
