The Golden State Warriors are fifth in the West this season with a 14-10 record, but they're looking to extend their championship window by making a trade for an experienced veteran guard.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Warriors are sending De'Anthony Melton and three second-round picks to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Dennis Schroder.
Schroder is now back with a contending team after stints with the Toronto Raptors and Nets, ready to contribute as he has for several playoff teams over the course of his career.

The German international was selected with the 17th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, and has been a steady presence at point guard since his rookie season. He began his career with the Atlanta Hawks, spending his first five seasons with the team before moving to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2018.
After his time in OKC, Schroder played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets.
The Warriors are looking to retool their roster once again as they rely on the older core of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Younger players like Jonathan Kuminga and Brandon Podziemski have contributed, but the Warriors are looking to replace longtime talent like Klay Thompson, who left to join the Dallas Mavericks in free agency.
Melton was the Warriors' fifth-leading scorer this season with 10.2 points per game, and he'll give the Nets another option at guard. He's only appeared in six games so far this year, but his role is likely to increase with Schroder now on the Warriors.
Schroder could make his Golden State debut on Sunday against the Mavericks, the second time the Warriors will meet their old teammate Thompson this season. The first meeting saw Curry put up 37 points, leading a spirited late-game run to lift the Warriors to the win.
Schroder should be back in time for the Warriors' game on Christmas Day, giving him a chance to meet his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Christmas Day matchup on national television could be one of the final chances fans get to see Stephen Curry and LeBron James face one another, if James returns to the Lakers by the time the game is played.
We'll see how Schroder contributes in Golden State after one of the first notable trades of the NBA season.
