Some college football fans would like to know where Lou Holtz will be when Ryan Day leads Ohio State into the National Championship Game against Notre Dame.

The Buckeyes and Fighting Irish will meet for the first time since Ohio State earned a 17-14 win over the prestigious independent program on Sept. 23, 2023. Ahead of the game, Holtz predicted a Notre Dame victory when questioning Ohio State's physicality in big losses with Day as head coach.

After defeating Notre Dame on a last-second touchdown at South Bend, Day called out the former head coach in a fiery post-game interview.

"I'd like to know where Lou Holtz is right now," Day said in 2023. "What he said about our team, I cannot believe. This is a tough team right here. We're proud to be Ohio. It's always been Ohio against the world, and it'll continue to be Ohio against the world."

Day's memorable comments resurfaced after the Buckeyes and Fighting Irish punched their tickets to the National Championship Game. They'll meet in Atlanta on Monday, Jan. 20.

On Sunday, Day was asked if he's spoken to Holtz since the 2023 incident. The Buckeyes head coach succinctly responded, "No."

In Day's eyes, Holtz was dead wrong about the Buckeyes. However, the 88-year-old was right on the money when forecasting the Cotton Bowl.

Holtz predicted a 14-point Buckeyes victory over the Texas Longhorns before Ohio State's 28-14 win. Perhaps changing his tune on Day's team, Holtz even cited their physicality in addition to an "elite defense."

Ohio State has now out-scored Tennessee, Oregon, and Texas by a combined 59 points en route to Atlanta. As of Sunday, the Buckeyes are 8.5-point favorites to beat Notre Dame for their first national title since 2014.

Holtz should expect everyone to ask for his National Championship Game pick throughout the week. Day will probably have his eyes and ears out for more bulletin board material. Meanwhile, Holtz could get the last laugh if Notre Dame gets revenge on his behalf.
