Meet The Dallas Cowboys Rookie Cheerleader Everyone's Talking About (1:22)

Former Dallas Cowboys star DeMarcus Lawrence took a major shot at his longtime team on Thursday.

Lawrence, who spent his first 11 NFL season in Dallas after being picked in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, signed a three-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks earlier today. The contract is worth up to $42 million with $18 million guaranteed.

During his time with the Cowboys, Lawrence made four Pro Bowls and was a consistent force along the defensive line. He logged 25 sacks over the 2017-18 seasons, including 14.5 in 2017.

All of that might be forgotten by Dallas fans once they see the clip of Lawrence below. In an interview with Seahawks podcaster Brian Nemhauser, Lawrence said he'll always have love for Dallas, but "knew" he would never win a championship there.

"Dallas is my home. I've made my home there, my family lives there. I'm forever gonna be there, but I know for sure I'm not gonna win a Super Bowl there. So, yeah. We here." Lawrence said.

Ouch. The Cowboys' championship drought--29 seasons and counting without even a trip to the NFC Championship Game--is well-chronicled, even if team vice president Stephen Jones seems to think fans are making a bigger deal out of it than is warranted.

"Obviously we're also evaluating where it didn't go right in terms of... this drought that... *air quotes* people say we're in, in terms of a Championship Game or a Super Bowl," Jones said back in January.

What Lawrence said is probably valid criticism, even if his former teammate Micah Parsons disagreed.

"This what rejection and envy look like! This some clown s---," Parsons tweeted.

Man, after all this, it would be awesome if the Cowboys and Seahawks played each other in 2025.

Alas, they're not scheduled to meet until 2026, so we'll have to wait until then or hope for a playoff matchup this coming season.
