Bill Simmons has made up his mind about his partnership with Spotify.

Spotify originally purchased The Ringer, Simmons' sports and entertainment network, back in 2020. There was some speculation that Simmons would take his company elsewhere when the original contract expired, but that won't be happening.

Bloomberg's Lucas Shaw reported Wednesday that Simmons has reupped with Spotify.

"Simmons will continue his namesake show covering sports and pop culture and serve as the company's head of talk strategy for at least two years, reporting to Roman Wasenmüller, who leads Spotify Technology SA's podcast business," Shaw wrote.

In a statement, Simmons confirmed the continuation of the partnership, adding that there is a plan to expand video content on the platform.

"Spotify is one of the best content companies in the world," Simmons said. "I've been in enough work situations at this point that you just kinda know when you're in the right spot. I think all of us are motivated to do something pretty special in the talk and video space."

The likelihood of Simmons sticking with Spotify was first reported by Semafor earlier this year after reports surfaced in 2024 that indicated Simmons was at least considering other options.

Ryan Glasspiegel, then of the New York Post and now with Front Office Sports, said the 55-year-old Simmons "privately expressed frustration with confidants about Spotify's corporate structure in which he has not had full personnel autonomy to bring all of the talents or shows that he wanted to add to the fold."

The Ringer network of podcasts on Spotify include The Bill Simmons Podcast, The Rewatchables and The Ryen Russillo Podcast, as well as shows hosted by Todd McShay, Amy Poehler, Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsey and Larry Wilmore.
