To mark St. Patrick's Day, President Trump invited arguably the most famous Irishman in MMA history to the White House: Former UFC champion Conor McGregor.
On Monday morning, McGregor was invited to give a speech at the morning press conference. He spoke about his home country of Ireland and various issues that he has with the country's government. The former MMA champion called the state of things in Ireland "a travesty."
"I'm here to raise the issues the people of Ireland face. You know, it'll be music to the people of Ireland's ears. Because, never on the main stage, have the issues the people of Ireland face been spoke. You know, our government has long since abandoned the voices of the people of Ireland and it's high time that America is made aware of what's going on in Ireland. What is going on in Ireland is a travesty," McGregor said.
A short while later, McGregor got to meet with President Trump in person. He told Trump that he finds his work ethic "inspiring"
"I'll tell you what. Your work ethic is inspiring," McGregor told President Trump.
"[As is yours]," the President said back.

McGregor rose to global prominence in UFC during the 2010s, winning his first seven fights in the promotion with six devastating knockouts, and claiming the UFC Featherweight championship.
He famously split a pair of brutal matches against Nate Diaz before challenging Eddie Alvarez for the Lightweight championship while holding the Featherweight belt. It took him less than two rounds to knock out Alvarez and claim the title, becoming the first-ever holder of two UFC belts simultaneously.
A combination of injuries and other ventures limited him to just four more fights in the five years after that win, losing three of his last four fights before retiring.
He also lost a professional boxing match against Floyd Mayweather in one of the boxing legend's final fights ever.
