The Kansas City Chiefs may have improved to 3-0 on Sunday night but Patrick Mahomes knows that he still needs to play better.

Mahomes tossed two touchdowns in the 22-17 victory. However, he threw another interception in the redzone that cost his team points — making it four INTs on the year.

"I feel like I haven't played very well and that's not a stats thing," Mahomes admitted after the game. "I just feel like I'm missing opportunities whenever they're out there and not throwing the ball in the exact spot I want it to be at. It's about me getting back to my fundamentals, putting our guys in the right position, and then we've got to execute at a higher level offensively. If teams are going to make us drive the field, we have to prove that we're able to do that, and I'm sure we'll get a lot of the same this next week with the Chargers."

One man who can appreciate that kind of attitude is Bill Belichick who praised the Chiefs QB for his comments on today's "Pat McAfee Show."

"One of the things that really jumped out at me was last night when they interviewed Mahomes," Belichick said. "They're 3-0 and you could easily sit there and say they're on course and here we go again, big win in Atlanta and all that, but there's Mahomes talking about how bad they're playing and how much harder they need to work and improve. That's the attitude of a champion right there. It just jumps off the screen at you. They won a big game and what he's talking about is how much work they have to do, how much better they need to be, how it all starts with him."

"I'd still take his performance over a lot of other guys in this league," the ex-coach added. "But here he is putting it on his shoulders. When he says that and you're another member of the team, it's hard for you not to take the same attitude and say, If Patrick feels like we've got to play better and he's got to play better, then maybe I have to play better too. I thought that was great leadership."

Mahomes finished with 217 yards and the aforementioned two TDs and pick in what some members of the Falcons were calling "the most significant and important game" in the history of their stadium.

But it ended with the same result. Now just imagine what it might look like once Kansas City actually starts playing well...
