Jon Gruden is trying to repair his public image without addressing the situation that led to his NFL exit.

Three years ago, the former Raiders head coach resigned after the New York Times and Wall Street Journal published his emails containing sexist, racist, and anti-gay remarks. Gruden filed a lawsuit against the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell, claiming the league leaked the emails to force his resignation. He's seeking monetary damages for the ramifications of his messages becoming public.

On Monday, Gruden went onThe Dan Patrick Show to promote his new YouTube show. The 61-year-old declined to answer Patrick's question about the lawsuit's status.

"I don't know. I'm not here to talk about my lawsuit," Gruden said (h/t Awful Announcing). "That's in other people's hands right now. I'm just trying to spread my love for football, Dan."

Patrick replied that he "has to ask the question," which is relevant given Gruden's attempt to coach again. Gruden later confirmed that he's spoken "to a lot of people" about coaching without offering any specifics.

"It's in due process. It's not in my hands," Gruden responded regarding the legal case. "So I can sit here and answer any questions, but I don't have anything to answer. I don't know where it is. It's in the court's hands. So I'm just here to study football and tell you what I see. That's the best I can do right now."

The longtime host stayed on the topic, asking Gruden who he thinks leaked the emails that led to his high-profile ousting. Gruden once again sidestepped the subject.

"I'm not going to get into all that. I really don't even want to talk about it," Gruden told Patrick. "I have a great opportunity to do some of the things I want to do right now, and that's what I'm gonna do."

Earlier this summer, Gruden lost a bid for the Nevada Supreme Court to reconsider whether to hear his case in court or private arbitration.
