WWE Saturday Night's Main Event 38 Predictions? | Question Of The Day
01/25/2025 04:15 AM
Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event takes place again tonight at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, airing on NBC and Peacock at 8 p.m. ET.
Before that airs, my question for you today is a standard “What are your predictions for SNME 38?”
Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.
As far as my answer…
WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: GUNTHER (c) vs. Jey Uso
Jey has no chance. Sorry. It’s just not happening. I’d be hesitant to trust Jey will ever win a world title, based on how quickly they dropped him as intercontinental champion, but I know that he’ll have a better shot somewhere else down the line than right here and right now.
Gunther dropping the title this close to WrestleMania season would be wild, and if he were to drop it to Jey of all people, I’d be stunned. As popular as Jey is right now, the optics for the marquee don’t read the same if Jey is going into Mania defending the title versus if Gunther is the defending champion.
WWE Women's World Championship Match: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Nia Jax
Likewise, Rhea Ripley isn’t losing her title, and certainly not to Nia Jax, who just was champion over on SmackDown.
Frankly, I’m surprised WWE is doing this match. They did the same match for the same title almost exactly a year ago, and Jax is already announced for the Royal Rumble. It’s an obvious situation where Ripley retains, Jax enters the Royal Rumble with the idea in mind that if she wins (which she won’t), she could choose between her beef with Ripley or Tiffany Stratton. Then, someone else wins, and Jax moves on to do something else, but probably has at least one more match with Ripley over the course of February, March and April, possibly also entering the Elimination Chamber, depending on how that is set up.
WWE International Championship Match: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Sheamus
Part of me wants Sheamus to check this off his bucket list so badly that no matter what the scenario, I just keep rooting for him to win the Intercontinental Championship. However, a bigger part of me says “not now” and that Bron Breakker needs to keep this title for a while longer before dropping it a second time.
Wants are one thing. What’s my prediction, though? I do think Breakker is going to retain, and it might be due to interference from someone like Ludwig Kaiser if his feud with The Celtic Warrior is going to drag on even longer, or someone else might screw over Sheamus and start a feud with him. Then again, Breakker just outright winning clean would be the best case scenario for him.
Contract Signing
Shawn Michaels is always entertaining (he’s my favorite of all time), but I don’t see him doing much here. He’ll collect the two world titles when Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens hand them over, and he’ll poke a few buttons that will lead to those two brawling. I don’t think we’ll get any physicality from HBK, as I don’t see him doing anything beyond just this. However, if there’s a chance he’s going to be ringside at Royal Rumble acting as a guest enforcer or special referee, then the go-to scenario here will be that Owens pushes Rhodes into him or Rhodes inadvertently hits him, and there may be a little Sweet Chin Music that goes someone’s way.
Braun Strowman vs. Jacob Fatu
This will be a lot of fun if they let them play up the kaiju battle angle, similar to how Braun Strowman and Bronson Reed worked an entertaining program together months back. I’m all in on betting that Fatu comes out of this the victor. Strowman is the veteran who is giving back to someone who needs to be built up more, particularly as Fatu’s been breaking out onto his own and seems like he’ll be feuding with Solo Sikoa going forward. A win over Strowman means a lot, whereas Strowman being victorious doesn’t really do much but set Fatu back a bit.
What do you think? Drop your thoughts below!
