Mercedes Mone was the second wrestler to win the IWGP Women's Championship, and she recently shared her thoughts on the possibility of winning it once more.
Mone held the title from February to April of 2023, and during a recent appearance on the “Battleground” podcast, she was asked about her desire to attempt reclaiming it from Mayu Iwatani.
Mone said, "I gotta look at my schedule. I gotta see if I can be out there in Japan every single week. As the New Japan Strong Women's Champion, we have a promotion here in the US that loves to run a lot of shows, so it's easier to just jump on a flight and go there. But if I wanted that IWGP Women's Championship again, then I would go after it."
She continued, "But there's always a plan, and there's always a time for everything. That's not the only title that I see my eyes on that. I see that little title that Mariah May I holding, I love seeing what Athena is holding down in Ring of Honor. There's a lot of championship gold out there in women's wrestling. So we'll see."
Mone will defend her AEW TBS Championship against Willow Nightingale at Full Gear 2024.
Mariah May has reached the one-year mark in AEW as of today, and she took to social media to celebrate this milestone.
May made her AEW debut on the November 8th episode of Dynamite.
The AEW Women's World Champion shared her thoughts on the past year, writing,
"One year ago I made my AEW debut
