Darby Allin doesn’t own a couch.
The AEW star is one of the more unique wrestlers around today, with some interesting hobbies, views and fashion choices. He has a love for jumping off tall things and hurting himself in the ring and seems to have zero disregard for his own health when in the ring or outside it.
That extends to his comfort in his own home.
Darby Allin recently appeared with RJ City and Renee Paquette on Meal & A Match(H/T to WrestlingInc for the transcription). They queried a rumor that he doesn’t have a couch, which the former TNT Champion confirmed was true.
He explained that he thinks having a couch creates laziness, as if simply having a place to sit and relax will stop him from being constantly on the move. Darby Allin joked he wanted to get a concrete couch to counteract that.
“Its real.” Darby Allin confirmed. “I think it creates laziness and you always gotta be on the move. Like, I was going to get a concrete couch.” He admitted.
Darby Allin Thinks The Term ‘Superstar’ Is Ridiculous
Darby Allin doesn’t own a couch and hates the word “superstar” used to describe wrestlers.
The AEW Superstar spoke with Renee Paquette and RJ City on Match and a Meal, where he revealed his disdain for the term.
Darby Allin thinks the word puts the wrestler above the fan, whereas he sees himself simply as a fan who made it in the business. He wants fans to know they can make it too, so doesn't like to call himself an AEW superstar.
"I went to an independent wrestling show in Arizona, and I was like, 'This is the worst stuff I've ever seen.' But it gave me confidence—if they're doing it, maybe I can actually try this." Darby Allin told Renee Paquette and RJ City.
That's why, with wrestling, I want to be a spokesperson for younger kids. I want them to look at me and feel like they can relate. I'm not coming in saying, 'Everything's perfect, I'm a superstar.' The term 'superstar' is kind of ridiculous, like it creates this gap between us and the fans, like we're up here and they're down there. But I'm just one of you who made it. And you can make it too.”
