Adam Copeland addresses Beth Phoenix‘s potential involvement in his ongoing AEW storyline with the Death Riders.
For months, the Death Riders have tormented the AEW locker room, with Jon Moxley as their leader. Meanwhile, Marina Shafir remains a stealthy force, often striking the stable’s targets with the briefcase containing Moxley’s AEW World Championship.
To counteract Shafir, many AEW fans have suggested the onboarding of former WWE Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix, who is currently a free agent. As her husband and AEW star Adam Copeland (aka Cope) points out, however, another potential neutralizer has already emerged.
“I don't think [Beth] has completely closed the door on it if the situation fits,” Copeland told TV Insider. I think where we were at, I think getting Willow [Nightingale] involved was good. Someone who was already on our roster, and I feel is just such a natural babyface and has such good energy. I thought she would be really cool to implement her into the story. Why not use someone who was already on the roster?”
“Beth is also pretty busy,” he added. “She has a pretty busy life, so it becomes more a family issue and how do we pull it off if we're both outgoing.”
In recent weeks, Shafir has beaten down Willow Nightingale backstage. In response, Nightingale launched counterattacks, one of which saw her crack a chair over Shafir’s head. Last week, Nightingale wiped out Shafir with a clothesline and a cannonball after she interfered in Copeland’s AEW World Championship match against Moxley on AEW Dynamite.
