Francis Ngannou is taking flack from fans for his thoughts on the big fight.
The PFL Super Fights heavyweight champion hung out with Cristiano Ronaldo during his trip to Saudi Arabia for Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury II, which took place at Riyadh's Kingdom Arena on Saturday night.
Francis Ngannou sat in the front row to watch the man he fought in his boxing debut suffer a second successive points defeat against Usyk.
'The Predator' shocked fans when he claimed that the decision could've gone Fury's way, even though all three ringside judges had his opponent as a clear 116-112 winner.
Francis Ngannouannoys fans with Usyk vs Fury 2 take
Ngannou ran into a reporter as he made his way to the exit post-fight.
The former UFC heavyweight champion gave his opinion, which didn't align with the consensus as he saw a competitive clash that could've gone either way at the end.
"It was a close fight, Fury could've won," Ngannou told Seconds out.
"I mean, it was pretty close. It was pretty close.
"He could've won based on the fight. Yeah, he might've because it was very even."
Boxing fans flooded the videos comments section to mock Ngannou's verdict.
One fan worried that Ngannou's scoring of the fight suggest he was still feeling the effects of his loss to Anthony Joshua: "This guy is still concussed from AJ KO."
Another added: "He isn't a boxer so of course he doesn't know what he saw lol."
This fan commented: "One more clown."
Someone else asked: "Francis finally woke up huh?"
What’s next for Francis Ngannou?
Ngannou made it look easy when he KO’d Renan Ferreira in his MMA return fight in October.
The Cameroonian spent almost three years away from the sport before making his PFL debut.
Two big boxing bouts against Fury and Joshua ended in defeat, but he continues to be linked with a return to the ring. Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is often touted as the man to welcome him back to the squared circle.
Denis Goltsov became a potential threat to Ngannou in MMA by winning PFL’s $1million heavyweight tournament in November.
One fight that can be ruled out is a cross-promotion clash with Jon Jones. The UFC heavyweight champion has been a long-term target for Ngannou, but now he’s sick of chasing MMA’s greatest fighter.
When asked about the potential clash by Seconds Out, he replied: "It's been four years that I've been saying it; I'm confused that people keep asking me this question."
At this point, the interviewer pushed the matter, asking whether there's any chance whatsoever we could see the bout, to which the fighter, raged: "That's not my problem, I don't care about it anymore. If it happens, yes, if it doesn't, f*** it."
UFC boss Dana White has ‘100 percent’ guaranteed Jones will face interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall next, while Ngannou’s future is a little less clear as he continues to weigh up his options in MMA and boxing.
