Sean Strickland says he had an argument with Khalil Rountree

At UFC 307, on October 5, at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, Khalil Rountree will put it all on the line when he fights Alex Pereira for the 205-pound championship.

The task at hand is enormous, with ‘Poatan’ having proven himself as an extremely difficult opponent to beat. And to make the challenge even harder, Sean Strickland is training with the Brazilian to ensure he’s at his best.

‘Tarzan’ is especially motivated to help Pereira train, as he has a deep disdain for Rountree.

The pair go back years, with Strickland openly firing insults at the man who will compete for the light heavyweight crown.

In an interview with the Schmo, the fighter claimed that he once insulted the 34-year-old in front of a class of people in a bid to make him perform better.

Strickland said: “I’ve wrestled with Khalil, he can’t f***ing wrestle. Tell you another story about Khalil Rountree, motherf***er. If you guys don’t know this, me and Khalil have some history.

“I tried to befriend this little beta male. I tried to be his friend. I was like, ‘Hey listen, we were all little fat kids one time, we all got picked on little fat kid. I wanna be your friend, Khalil’.

“So, I said, ‘Khalil, I don’t really wanna do this, but I’m gonna invite you to wrestling’. And I invited him to wrestling.

“You know me, I gave my big d**k speech; I try to pump everybody up. I say, ‘Hey listen, if I see you guys go with Khalil, I know you picked the easiest round on here, and you’re being a p***y.

“I said that to the little fat kid because I wanted him to be an angry little fat kid. I wanted him to say, ‘You know what, Sean, F you. I wanna fight you for five rounds’.

“You know what this guy did? [He] put his head down, walked off the mat, and said, ‘Sean, I don’t like you, and I don’t respect you’.”
