Jon Jones fact checked by fans after forgetting about Alex Pereira in bold statement about his achievements

Jon Jones has achieved so much during his Hall of Fame UFC career.
Since becoming the youngest champion in company history 13 years ago, he's dominated at light heavyweight and moved up a division to become a two-weight champion.
'Bones' is still flying high following a recent third-round knockout win over former two-time champion Stipe Miocic, who he floored with a spinning kick to the stomach at UFC 309 earlier this month.
However, Jon Jones forgot about a potential rival when he recently took to social media to reflect on his journey from a 23-year-old champion to the greatest of all time.
Who is the oldest UFC champion today?
MMA legend Randy Couture holds the honor of being the oldest champion ever, he was 45 years old when he had the UFC heavyweight title between 2007 and 2008.
Glover Teixeira became the oldest first-time UFC champion when he scored a sensational submission win over Jan Blachowicz to claim 205lb gold at 42 in 2021.
Since then, he's coached Alex Pereira to title wins at middleweight and light heavyweight, where he currently dominates, despite being 37 years old.
That's the same age as Jon Jones, who is just 12 days younger than Pereira.
It seems the American was unaware of that fact before taking to X on Tuesday evening.
“In 2011, I became the youngest champion in UFC history," Jones tweeted. "Today, I'm proud to stand as the oldest champion on the roster.. Age is just a number when your mind and spirit stay sharp."
Fans flooded Jones' comment section to let him know that he had got it wrong.
Before long, a community note was added to his post, it read: “Alex Pereira is 12 days older than Jon Jones, and is the actual "oldest champion on the roster'."
Jon Jones in talks for 2025 fight
Before UFC 309, Jon Jones suggested on multiple occasions that he would retire after beating Miocic – but he didn't when he got a moment on the mic post-fight.
Jones continued to talk up a fight with Alex Pereira and distance himself from a unification clash with interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall.
Dana White ruled out Jones vs Pereira, and since then Aspinall has claimed that negotiations are ongoing for the potential heavyweight super fight.
Jones has also provided a positive update about his fighting future.
"Right now, the UFC and I are in talks to see what happens next," he said.
"I'm back in the gym, I'm training, I feel really great. The team's support, they're right behind me, and we'll just be ready for whatever opportunity comes our way.
"There is a [money figure], but I'm not going to discuss that publicly. We'll just have to wait and see. I'll be competing in 2025, more than likely."
