The TaylorMade Qi35 drivers were recently added to the USGA conforming list so we can expect to see them released in January 2025.

Nelly Korda has already had the Max version out in tournament play and GolfWRX spotted the LS (see headline picture) at the PNC Championship where Tiger Woods and son Charlie, who had a hole-in-one, lost in a playoff to Bernhard and Jason Langer.

When did TaylorMade last bring a new driver out?

In January 2024 TaylorMade brought out the Qi10 driver. This stood for a higher moment of inertia which means more forgiveness. The previous efforts to push the MOI higher got to around the 8500 mark but this driver reached the 10,000 mark. Hence Qi10 – quest (Q), i (inertia), 10 (10k).

What’s in the range?

There will likely be three new options with the Qi35 range. It’s interesting that we’ve gone from 10 to 35 and more will be revealed in the next few weeks but we do know there will be the standard Qi35 (9 and 10.5˚), the Qi35 Max driver which will be the most forgiving and the Qi35 LS driver which stands for low spin and is for those players with a faster swing speed.

What is the TaylorMade Qi35 driver?

This features the usual TaylorMade speed pocket and this allows the bottom portion of the hitting area to flex a little bit more effectively on low struck shots and it has a carbon fibre face. There are only two loft options but there is an adjustable hosel to loft up and there looks to be two interchangeable weights in the head. There is a lot going on, on the sole of the club which will be explained more when the club is released properly but the front weight is now more central as opposed to the Qi10.

What is the TaylorMade Qi35 Max driver?

Nelly Korda has already had this in the bag which is some statement after the year and stats that she’s enjoyed off the tee in 2024. This has the markings of a 10k driver and there is a single weight at the back which might not be moveable and, again, two loft options. This is for the player who is capable of hitting it across the face and still getting plenty of help as well as being a fantastic driver in its own right, given Korda very rarely missed the middle of the clubface.

What is the TaylorMade Qi35 LS driver?

Here there are two weights which are located at the front, one towards the front heel and one towards the front toe, and again there is a weight port in the back. So there will be more weight moved forward which will encourage ball speed and lower that spin and launch angle and it seems likely that you will be able to move the weights to offer more of a draw or fade bias. So, for a low-spin driver, there should be more forgiveness and stability than you might imagine.

Why use carbon fibre?

TaylorMade use carbon fibre in their drivers to optimise performance, specifically to improve weight distribution, aerodynamics, and overall club efficiency. This design philosophy is evident in their recent lines, such as the Stealth drivers, which incorporate advanced carbon technology.
