Bizarre footage captures Ryan Garcia shadow boxing on stage during first stand-up comedy set

Ryan Garcia is using his break from boxing to try new things.

'KingRy' tested positive for a banned substance – ostarine – twice before dropping Devin Haney three times en route to a decision win, which has since been overturned to a no-contest.

After being banned from his first sport for a year, the 25-year-old suggested he would transition to MMA for a potential fight with UFC champion Sean O'Malley.

However, he went in a very different direction on Saturday night.

Comedian Chris Delia shared a video on Instagram showing him welcoming Garcia to the stage at 'The Laugh Factory' in California.

He added the caption: "Ryan Garcia wanted to try stand up. I brought him on stage. We even did a face off. It was a wild night. Crowd went bonkers. Respect."

Canelo Alvarez's ex-teammate didn't tell jokes, he just talked about his ongoing issues.

“Hi guys, I’m a boxer. But I’m currently banned from boxing for a year,” Garcia began.

"I didn’t cheat, I didn’t do anything, just to be clear.

"I’ve been doing anything to try to save my life. I’ve only boxed since I was seven years old. So, they said that maybe I can be a stand-up comedian."

Delia, who remained on stage, tried to get things back on track by pointing out a member of the audience and encouraging Garcia to make fun of him.

Unfortunately, the boxer froze and didn't have anything to say. So, Garcia decided to entertain the crowd by shadow boxing on stage.

The American went on to discuss his recent poker game with football star Neymar, fellow boxer Chris Eubank Jr and NBA star Jimmy Butler.

Delia asked Garcia to compare his first comedy experience to boxing.

The 24-1 fighter claimed stand-up is 'much scarier' before making his way off stage to a chorus of cheers from the crowd, who appreciated him giving it a go.

It doesn't seem like Garcia is a natural comedian, so it remains to be seen what he will do with himself until his ban ends on April 20, 2025.
