Lynn's time as a Cardinal is probably over, and Lynn is certainly convinced of that

I proposed a theory that Lance Lynn was pitching hurt prior to hitting the injured list, but apparently he was still a little hurt in his two most recent starts. Cause it sure seems like Lance Lynn only started two games so he could start at Busch Stadium one last time and once that was accomplished, his season could end.

The 37-year-old also seemed to be dropping hints in the postgame interview that this might be his last season, although he also mentioned that he still wanted to pitch. He at least is under the impression that he won't be coming back as a Cardinal and a lot of that context makes the interview interesting.

Not that he should expect to come back, but an athlete could certainly fool themselves into thinking they might come back with a 3.84 ERA. But not Lynn. Or someone has basically already told him. Or maybe he pitched a lot of this year sore and his body has had enough and he plans to retire. We likely have seen the last of Lynn in a Cardinals uniform in an actual MLB game.

With that being true, Lynn never had a season with the Cardinals with an ERA over 4.00. Which is kind of hard to believe because I remember a time when "Lynning" was a popular phrase online and people didn't love Lynn in the rotation. And also the general reputation that Lynn became a better pitcher once he left (which is kind of true, but a little overexaggerated) But he was always an effective member of the rotation when wearing the birds on the bat.

Anyway, that's all I have for you today.
