Did the Red Sox intentionally throw at Judge?; Boone takes the blame for Saturday's IBB fiasco; the Yankees say farewell to Victor González

The Athletic | Chris Kirschner and Jen McCaffrey ($): There was a lot going on in Saturday's Red Sox vs. Yankees game. Among the events, Boston starter Brayan Bello threw behind superstar Aaron Judge in the sixth inning of the Boston win. Before first pitch on Sunday, Boston skipper Alex Cora revealed that the errant pitch may have been intentional, payback for multiple Boston batters getting plunked. In the end, it was much ado about nothing. The pitch missed Judge and there was no follow-up on Sunday.*

*Manager Aaron Boone did say "That's not allowed" when told of Bello throwing at Judge and hinted that MLB should investigate.

New York Post | Mark W. Sanchez: The most infamous moment from Saturday's game, the intentional walk to Rafael Devers, found itself still in the news Sunday. Skipper Aaron Boone took the blame for how things played out, revealing that his preference would have been for Cole to face Devers, but he didn't communicate his wishes clearly enough. Meanwhile, backstop Austin Wells had no idea what was going on. Not the 2024 Yankees' finest hour.

MLB Trade Rumors | Nick Deeds: Say goodbye to southpaw reliever Victor González. Acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers along with Jorbit Vivas in exchange for Trey Sweeney (later flipped to the Tigers), the Yankees released the disappointing lefty on Sunday. He had been pitching for Triple-A Scranton after the Yankees designated him for assignment earlier this season. Victor, we barely knew you — and perhaps it's better that way.
