Will Howard transferred from Kansas State to Ohio State to play in games like Saturday night.

No. 2 vs. No. 3. Two Big Ten rivals playing on the national stage. Elite talent all across the field. Ohio State vs. Oregon had it all on Saturday night - except for a smart finish. The Buckeyes fell to the Ducks, 32-31, at Autzen Stadium in Eugene. Ryan Day's team had a chance to go for the win late, driving into Oregon territory, needing only a field goal. But an offensive pass interference penalty on wide receiver Jeremiah Smith pushed the Buckeyes out of field goal range. Howard was then unable to get down in time on a scramble with the game's final seconds ticking away.

Oregon held on for the win.

But Howard remains confident in his group. Following the game, he had a message for Buckeyes fans.

"I hope it lights a little fire under us, man, because I still have all the belief in the world in this team," he said. "(Oregon) is a good football team. I don't think they necessarily beat us. I think we beat ourselves a little bit. I think we left some stuff out there that we got to learn from and get better because of.

"I think this is a good team. We're gonna see them again. The message has to be we have to grow from this and learn from this. This obviously isn't how you want to do it, but you know, you can't let them beat you twice."

Ohio State could see Oregon again. The Buckeyes and the Ducks could meet in the Big Ten Championship Game.
