There was a gruesome injury in the NCAA Tournament First Four game between No. 16 American and No. 16 Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday evening.
The two No. 16 seeds are playing for a chance to take on No. 1 seed Duke on Friday. The American team has suffered a tough blow early on in the game, though.
American fifth-year big man Matt Rogers suffered a gruesome injury minutes into the game. He was able to return to the contest, but re-aggravated the injury late in the first half. Rogers was down on the court for several minutes.
The 6-foot-9 senior is arguably American's best player. He is averaging 17 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. He is averaging 55.6 percent shooting from the field.
