Olympian Michael Brinegar is not allowed to race the men's 1,500-meter freestyle at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials.

The former U.S. Olympian has been ruled out because of alleged doping in 2022. Brinegar was informed last summer that blood tests showed evidence of him doping during the summer of 2022 while he was training.

The Court of Arbitration ruled in favor of not allowing Brinegar to race after he was allowed to earlier in the trials.

"As an Olympian and the son of an Olympic swimmer whose U.S. women's team faced an East German team that was systematically doping, cheating is a betrayal of everything I have been taught and stand for," Brinegar said, via Sports Illustrated's Pat Forde. "I am deeply disappointed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport's ruling and USADA's accusations that are utterly unfounded."

Because Brinegar is out of the trials, he's facing a four-year ban unless he can get a ruling to go in his favor.

The 2024 Summer Olympics are approaching fast, with the first day of the Olympic Games set for July 26. They'll go through August 11.
