Report: Details From Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce's Wedding Planning (1:24)

Travis Kelce knows haters are waiting for the chance to criticize him and Taylor Swift.

With great fame often comes greater resentment, so the celebrity couple has plenty of detractors. NFL fans grew annoyed by broadcasts focusing on Swift whenever she appeared at a Kansas City Chiefs game, and some even tried to blame the tight end's slow start to the 2024 season on the pop star.

On a New Heights podcast released Wednesday, guest Pat McAfee called Kelce's high-profile relationship with Swift "great for the sport." He labeled the four-time All-Pro the "perfect representation" for football.

Kelce appreciated the kind words but joked that those good feelings would quickly evaporate with the first shortcoming.

"Just got to keep winning," Kelce said. "If we lose a game, it's gonna [expletive] rain down, baby. Just got to keep winning and staying on top."

After winning their second straight Super Bowl last year, the Chiefs started 5-0 before their Week 6 bye. Even that wasn't enough to appease some critics, as Kelce registered just 69 receiving yards through the team's first three games.

Pundits such as Todd McShay claimed Kelce was distracted from a busy offseason touring the globe to watch Swift perform. However, the 35-year-old played more like himself when tallying 159 yards in two bounce-back performances before Kansas City's bye.

The Chiefs haven't lost since last Christmas, so some critics are probably eager to attack Kelce and Swift once the defending champions stumble. It may not take long to test Kelce's hypothesis, as Kansas City goes to Santa Clara to face the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday.
