LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are facing a reality that has become all too familiar over the last two seasons: elimination from the playoffs at the hands of the Denver Nuggets.

The Lakers lost on Thursday to fall to a 3-0 deficit in their first round series against the Nuggets, and they're on the brink of being swept by them once again.

Denver swept the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals last year before beating the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals.

With possibly only one more game left in the season, it appears that the Denver losses have gotten to LeBron.

"At the end of the day, it's just basketball," James said to a reporter on Thursday night after the game.

James made a similar statement after the Cavaliers lost to the Warriors in the 2017 NBA Finals - a series his team lost in five games.

With no team ever coming back from a 3-0 deficit to win a playoff series in NBA history, it looks like LeBron may be anticipating defeat in this series against the Nuggets.

Denver is the No. 2 seed in the West after a 57-win season, and they're looking to defend the championship they won in 2023.

The Lakers fought their way into the playoffs with a win in the Play-In Tournament, clawing to stay in the postseason hunt all year long.

LeBron and the Lakers will have the chance to save their season - at least for a few more days - at home on Saturday night in Game 4.

If they lose, it'll be only the fourth time in LeBron's career that he's been swept in a playoff series.
