Texans Make Roster Decision On Nico Collins Before 'Sunday Night Football'
The Houston Texans will be getting wide receiver Nico Collins back fairly soon.
On Friday, they designated Collins to return from injured reserve.
Collins has been banged up with a hamstring injury since he got hurt during the Texans' game against the Buffalo Bills on October 6. It's unclear if he'll play this Sunday against the Detroit Lions but he's at least ready to practice with his teammates again.
The Michigan product is one the Texans' top weapons and one of C.J. Stroud's favorite targets. In five games before he got hurt, he compiled 32 receptions for 567 yards and three touchdowns.
He was on pace for another 1,000-yard season and may still hit that mark if he can come back with enough time. Collins burst onto the scene in a big way last season, finishing with 80 receptions for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns.
The Texans are 6-3 and are coming off a Thursday Night Football loss against the New York Jets. They're still in first place in the AFC South but they still need to start playing a bit better if they want to go on a deep playoff run.
They lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Divisional Round last season and showed the NFL community that they were well ahead of schedule. Despite being off to a good start this season, they still have another level they can reach.
They'll try and get to that level against the 7-1 Lions this Sunday. This is a Lions team that's playing like the best team in the NFC and is the favorite to represent the conference in the Super Bowl.
Kickoff will be at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
