Two NFL head coaches have already been fired this season and more are bound to follow on "Black Monday" in January. But one Super Bowl-winning coach could be on the chopping block as early as this weekend.

According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, a league source informed her that Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan might not tolerate a blowout at the hands of the Detroit Lions this weekend and said that head coach Doug Pederson could be fired if the team loses badly on Sunday.

"Heard from a couple people... the owner prefers to wait to make a decision after the season, but if they get blown out this weekend (vs. the Detroit #Lions) change is possibly coming," the source said, via Anderson.

The Jaguars will be without star quarterback Trevor Lawrence this Sunday, so firing Pederson under those conditions might seem unfair. But when Anderson pointed this out to the source, the source informed her that it remains the case regardless.

"Define fair in the NFL. What's fair? This is a business. I mean I see your point, but people are definitely talking about these things down here."

Doug Pederson went 42-37-1 in five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, leading them to their first Super Bowl win in 2017. But after a falling out with the team during the 2020 season, he was fired.

The Jaguars then hired Pederson in 2022 to bring stability to the franchise following the ill-fated tenure of Urban Meyer. Pederson promptly delivered the Jaguars an AFC South title and a playoff win, but the team regressed in 2023 and appears to be regressing again in 2024. He's 2-8 this season and is 20-24 overall since joining the team.

As mentioned earlier, the Jaguars are going to be missing Trevor Lawrence for this next game and possibly more games after that. But with the way things are going, Pederson may have simply worn out his welcome in Jacksonville.

The bigger issue for Jacksonville might be trying to find a coach who's more qualified or better equipped for the job than Pederson. If a former Super Bowl champion couldn't get the job done, who can?

Has Doug Pederson won his final game in Jacksonville?
