Celebrities Who Unfortunately Passed Away In 2024 (2:18)

The sports world lost a beloved broadcast figure this past weekend as Brian McKenna lost his life in a car accident. He was 61 years old.

According to reports, McKenna was believed to be struck by a car while he was out for a walk. His body was first discovered this past Saturday morning at around 1 a.m. in St. Louis, Missouri.

McKenna was a longtime sportscaster for KFNS 590 The Fan and well-known for his charity work in the St. Louis metro area and as a brand ambassador for the St. Louis Hero Network.

McKenna's sudden passing has led to an outpouring of support for the beloved St. Louis sports figure:

"I just can't even believe what I'm hearing today about Brian McKenna. Just last month I randomly bumped into him for the first time in like 20 years on a visit back to STL. We had a long chat and I got to tell him I love him. One of the truly great guys I've know. I'm heartbroken," one user wrote on X.

"The man, Brian McKenna. So many words to say. Mentor, friend, and person that cares about South City. Your impact on our city is undeniable. Your friendship was second to none. Look over us and continue to be an undeniable force! Love you McKenna!!" Jim Powers of Fox 2 wrote.

"Man, it sucks Brian McKenna got hit by a car. He was a good guy. I didn't know him well but he helped my out by being a loving ear to talk to when I was going through a tough time. As he did for many other people too. He was like stories you hear about Mr Rodgers but with an edge."

"Rest easy our warrior friend. Your tribe won't be the same without you."

"Such awful news. I didn't know Brian but lived in the STL area for three years & he was a major part of the sports talk landscape at that time (and beyond of course) - very popular. RIP."

"So sad to hear about the passing of Brian McKenna. Every time he came on the radio with us the last several years he was always promoting a local charity. Just a good, fun dude."
