The leadup to WWE's WrestleMania 41 has been some of the most compelling that fans have enjoyed in a long time with the legendary John Cena returning to the ring as a heel to challenge WWE champion Cody Rhodes for the title next month.

But while Cena has crossed plenty of lines in his new heel turn, he also caught the attention of WWE legend Ric Flair this week. Speaking to the crowd at a recent event, Cena pledged to break Flair's decades-long record for world championships and make people forget about The Nature Boy. He only needs one more to surpass Flair for the most in history.

"At WrestleMania, I make history by winning a 17th Championship, and I finally force you to forget the name of the fun machine jet flying woooo Ric Flair," Cena said Monday. "You will forever say the name John Cena."

Well, Flair was alerted to Cena calling him out and spoke with TMZ about Cena's boast. In an interview, Flair made it clear that he isn't going anywhere.

"They've been trying to get rid of the 'woo' for 50 years. The 'woo' ain't going away, and neither is Ric Flair."

Flair is recognized for having the most world championships in pro wrestling history. He is an eight-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion, a six-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion and a two-time WWF Champion.

Cena is a 13-time WWE Champion and a three-time World Heavyweight Champion.

Cena has largely left professional wrestling behind as the 47-year-old has transitioned into acting and found considerable success over the past 20 years.

He has said that 2025 will be his last year in professional wrestling and that WrestleMania 41 will be his final WrestleMania event.
