Meet The Sideline Reporters For The 2025 NCAA Tournament (1:10)

With the news of Elon Musk's $45 billion "sale" of X to his company xAI, artificial intelligence is back in the news. So why not put it to use in a sports context?

March Madness is well underway and we're just days away from the dramatic conclusion of the 2025 NCAA Tournament. And it sounds like Elon's chatbot Grok has an idea of who might be cutting down the nets in San Antonio.

Just for fun, we asked the AI program for it's prediction — and there's a blue blood that Grok has its eye on (literally).

"For my prediction, I'm leaning toward Duke. Their blend of elite defense, depth, and [Cooper] Flagg's superstar potential mirrors past champions like the 2019 Virginia team or the 2023 UConn squad—teams that combined talent with resilience," Grok said.

"The Blue Devils have lost just once since November 28, and their ability to generate high-percentage shots (catch-and-shoot 3s and rim attacks) while protecting the paint gives them an edge in clutch moments," the chatbot continued. "Their Elite Eight matchup against Alabama's top-scoring offense will be a test, but if they advance, I see them cutting down the nets in San Antonio on April 7."

With that said, Grok 3 wouldn't be surprised to see another team walk away with it all a little over a week from now. Arguing, "Florida's momentum and offensive firepower make them a close second—don't be shocked if they pull it off instead."

Duke is currently up double-digits on the Crimson Tide with 10 minutes to go in their Elite 8 matchup.

Freshman guard Kon Knueppel is leading the way for the Blue Devils with 17 points on 50% shooting from deep. While Flagg has struggled a bit from the field but has still managed to contribute 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a block.
