With the Las Vegas Raiders long-since eliminated from the playoffs, Antonio Pierce's team is no longer playing for anything. One of their biggest stars is going to get a head start on preparing for 2025 by shutting down his 2024.
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Raiders Pro Bowl pass rusher Maxx Crosby is expected to undergo arthroscopic ankle surgery that is expected to end his 2024 campaign. He had previously been ruled out of the Raiders' upcoming Monday Night Football game against the Atlanta Falcons with his ankle injury and is now ready to shut it down completely.
"Raiders three-time Pro Bowl DE Maxx Crosby, who already has been ruled out for Monday night's game vs. the Falcons due to his ankle injury, is expected to undergo arthroscopic ankle surgery that likely will end his 2024 season, league sources told ESPN," Schefter wrote.

Crosby has been one of the few consistent bright spots for the Raiders over the past few years. Since joining the Raiders as a fourth-round draft pick in 2019, he has never had fewer than 7.0 sacks in a season.
As a rookie in 2019, Crosby recorded 10.0 sacks, finishing second in the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. He had a less productive 2020 but was back with a vengeance the year after.
In 2021, Crosby made his first Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection after recording 8.0 sacks and a whopping 30 QB hits. But he only continued to improve over the next couple of years.
2022 saw Crosby lead the league with 22 tackles for loss while recording a career-high 12.5 sacks. He would exceed even those marks the very next year with 23 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks. Crosby made the Pro Bowl in both seasons and finished in the top six for Defensive Player of the Year voting in each year.
Even as he prepares to end his season, Crosby leads the league in tackles for loss with 17. His 2024 campaign ends with 17 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, 20 QB hits, 45 total tackles and five passes defended in 12 games.
Will Crosby be back at 100-percent in 2025?
