Meet The Fiancee of Travis Hunter (1:23)

Piers Morgan teed off on a left-wing reporter who admitted that she felt "joy" over the murder of a healthcare CEO in New York City last week.

Brian Thompson, the 50-year-old CEO of United Healthcare, was shot and killed by an armed assailant outside of a New York City hotel on Wednesday, Dec. 4. The police have since taken a 26-year-old suspect, Luigi Mangione, into custody. Mangione, who reportedly attended the University of Pennsylvania, was caught at a McDonald's in Pennsylvania on Monday. He has since been charged with murder.

Taylor Lorenz, a reporter who previously worked for the New York Times and Washington Post, appeared on Piers Morgan's show on Monday.

The 40-year-old reporter admitted that she felt "joy" over Thompson's murder.

Lorenz, who wrote a column about the murder, told Morgan that she felt "joy" when she learned about the killing of Thompson.

"I do believe in the sanctity of life and I think that's why I felt, along with so many other Americans, joy, unfortunately," Lorenz told Morgan. "Maybe not joy but certainly not empathy."

Morgan was stunned.

"How could this make you joyful?" Morgan asked. "This guy is a husband, he's a father, and he's been gunned down in the middle of Manhattan. Why does that make you joyful?"

Lorenz said that she hopes the killing of Thompson will force healthcare companies and executives to learn what it feels like to have loved ones suffer because of denied medical coverage.

"So are the tens of thousands of Americans that he murdered!" Lorenz said. "So are the tens of thousands of Americans, innocent Americans, who died because greedy health insurance executives like this one push a policy of denying care to the most vulnerable people, and I am a part of the many millions of Americans that have watched people that I care about suffer and in some cases die because of lack of healthcare."

Morgan asked Lorenz if she thought every healthcare executive should be killed, then.

"No," Lorenz replied while laughing.

"Well, why not? Why are you laughing? You seem to find the whole thing hilarious. A bloke's been murdered in the street. I don't find it funny at all," Morgan said.

Lorenz also went after Tomi Lahren, who said that she should feel empathy for Thompson and his family.

"Taylor, I don't mean to be rude, but why the (expletive) are you laughing all the time?" Morgan said. "I don't get it. Sorry, apologies for my language, but honestly I find it unbelievable! What are you laughing at?"

"I'm laughing at Tomi's insane mischaracterization of why people are angry," Lorenz said. "The majority of America is united on this, we do not think that this healthcare system that is murdering, again, thousands of innocent Americans, who by the way Tomi, also have families, also have children. These people are being killed by our barbaric and evil for-profit healthcare system. And I agree we should not necessarily go around shooting people in the street."
