A PGA Tour star suffered a "freak" bedroom injury over the Christmas holiday.
The 2025 PGA Tour season is getting ready to start next month. The 2025 season is set to begin at The Sentry, which will be played Jan. 2-5 from the Plantation Course at Kapalua on Maui, Hawaii. But one star player's status for the start of the 2025 PGA Tour is in question after his "freak" bedroom injury.
PGA Tour star Viktor Hovland, a 27-year-old professional from Norway, suffered a "freak" bedroom injury over the Christmas holiday. His status for the season opener is now in doubt.
Hovland announced after Christmas that he suffered a "freak" injury thanks to his bed frame.
"Bed frame 1 – 0 me," he wrote.
This is the second "freak" injury suffered by a PGA Tour player heading into the 2025 season opener. Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 player in the world, sliced his hand open on Christmas and needed surgery, putting his status for the start of 2025 in doubt.
"Scottie sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a broken glass," Scheffler's manager, Blake Smith, said Friday in a statement. "Small glass fragments remained in the palm which required surgery. He has been told that he should be back to 100% in three to four weeks."
Fellow PGA Tour star Collin Morikawa joked about the freak injuries his fellow golfers have been suffering.
"I'm wrapping myself in some bubble wrap on the way to Hawaii," he joked.
PGA Tour fans weighed in on the freak injuries, too.
"At least it's off season! Heal up!" one fan wrote.
"Tough break… literally," one fan added.
"bro plays a fade, even with his toes," one fan added.
"Not a good day for leading golfers and silly household injuries 😂," one fan added.
Hopefully, there won't be too many more freak injuries suffered by PGA Tour players heading into 2025. Hovland was one of the best players in the sport last season. He contended at most of the major tournaments and is currently ranked in the top 10 in the world.
Heal up, Viktor!
