Donald Trump has been active on social media on New Year's Day.
The United States president elect is trending for his comments on Truth Social, his social media platform. Trump, who celebrated New Year's Eve at Mar-A-Lago with his wife, Melania Trump, is trending for his comments on the tragedy that happened in New Orleans on Wednesday morning.
"When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true. The crime rate in our country is at a level that nobody has ever seen before. Our hearts are with all of the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department. The Trump Administration will fully support the City of New Orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil!" he wrote.
The 42-year-old man who attacked New Orleans on Wednesday morning is believed to be a U.S. citizen born in Texas.
Still, Trump hasn't stopped with the messaging on social media.
Trump took to Truth Social on New Year's Day with an eight-word pledge to the United States.
"Happy New Year to all," he said, followed up by his eight-word promise to Americans.
"It will be a great time for America!" he wrote.
Trump is set to take office later this month. The former United States president served from 2017-20. He'll be taking office after beating Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the November presidential election.
