Everything About Brittany Mahomes' Soccer Career (1:18)

Travis Kelce hasn't looked like himself to start the 2024 NFL regular season.

The Chiefs are 3-0, but Kelce has been struggling. He had just four catches for 30 yards in his team's 22-17 win over the Falcons on Sunday night. On the season, he has eight catches for less than 100 yards. Kelce has played like a fringe player and not a consistent All-Pro like he's been for most of his career. What's going on with the three-time Super Bowl-winning tight end? His quarterback has a simple theory on why his favorite target has been struggling to start the season.

Mahomes says there's one reason and one reason alone.

Mahomes said that his favorite tight end is simply getting covered by too many defenders right now.

"Yeah, it's crazy because teams still — the respect factor they have for Travis is just unreal," Mahomes said. "It's well-deserved, but we're calling a lot of plays for Travis, and it's like two or three people are going to him. So, I mean, he understands.

"I think that's the great thing about him is he wants to make an impact on the game, but he wants to win at the end of the day."

Still, it appears to be frustrating Kelce. He hasn't looked like himself on the bench.

It's still early, so perhaps Kelce will turn it on as the season progresses.

The Chiefs are set to take on the Chargers in Week 4 on Sunday.
