J.D. Vance Has A Message For Ohio State Coach Ryan Day (1:01)

There's a lot on the line for Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes in Monday's national title game — including some pretty impressive history.

The Buckeyes enter the CFP's championship game pretty sizable favorites over Marcus Freeman's Notre Dame squad and it was a long and winding road to get there.

Per ESPN's Pete Thamel: "Ohio State has 4 wins over AP Top 5 opponents and a win tonight would make them the first program with 5 Top 5 wins in a single year. They are tied with 2019 LSU, 1967 USC and 1943 Notre Dame."

"As for AP Top 10 wins, Ohio State has 5 already," the college football writer added. "That's tied for the 2nd most in a single season in the Poll era. With a win over Notre Dame, they would take over sole possession of 2nd and only trail 2019 LSU (7)."

Fans reacted to the interesting stat on social media.

"Ryan Day is rewriting the narrative," a user said.

"Greatest season ever sounds like to me," another replied.

"This is a legacy game for alot these guys tonight man. What a journey," a fan commented.

"As if I needed more reasons to be nervous," a Columbus native posted.

"They are also tied with 1967 USC and 1943 Notre Dame as the only programs to have 4 top 5 wins plus a loss to an unranked team. A win tonight and they'll stand alone on that mountain," another person pointed out.

"Could be the Greatest and most treacherous resume in CFB history," another fan stated. "Won not done."

You have to give it to OSU for bouncing back after losing to Michigan late in the year. They could've easily folded and packed it in right there, but they used it as motivation to win their next three games by an average of 20 points.

All that could be for not though with a loss to ND just a few hours from now. We'll see how if they can finish the job come 7:30 PM ET on ESPN.
