The wildfires in Los Angeles have absolutely devastated the community over the past 24 hours. On Wednesday, the wife of Rams head coach Sean McVay offered her thoughts on this tragedy.
McVay's wife, Veronika Khomyn, shared her view of the wildfires on Instagram this afternoon. She revealed that Tuesday night was one of the "scariest nights" in her life. We can't fault her for feeling that way. At least 30,000 people were forced to evacuate due to the fire blazing through the Los Angeles metropolitan area. As you'd expect, she's heartbroken over this entire situation.
"Last night was one of the scariest nights," she wrote on her Instagram Story. "I'm so sad for everyone who has lost their homes. Entire community... my heart aches for what's going on in our beautiful city."
It sounds like McVay and Khomyn are safe at this time. We'd imagine the head coach of the Rams will speak to the media later today about the wildfire.
McVay and Khomyn got married in June 2022 after several years of dating. According to reports, they first met when she was a student at George Mason University in 2013. Clearly, their relationship was strong enough to go the distance.
In October 2023, McVay and Khomyn welcomed their first child.
"What a blessing," McVay said. "What a cool thing. He's here, he's healthy. It's wild. I don't even think you can put words to it."
As for McVay's coaching career, the Rams have a Wild Card matchup on Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings. The wildfires in Los Angeles are not currently expected to impact the game, but things could change.
"The NFL continues to closely monitor developments in the area and will remain in contact with both clubs and the NFLPA," the league said.
Kickoff for the Rams-Vikings playoff game is at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
