Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark put together an incredible WNBA rookie season after her historic collegiate career at Iowa. Averaging 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists, Clark broke the WNBA's single-season assist record while putting up unprecedented statistical averages.
Already one of the most popular athletes in sports before joining the WNBA, Clark's rookie season brought that to new heights. Helping Indiana and the WNBA break several attendance and viewership records, Clark proved to be one of the biggest draws in basketball.
With an opportunity to capitalize on this, the NBA may soon be making a major Clark decision for its 2025 All-Star Weekend in San Francisco.
In an article on Friday, ESPN's Shams Charania reported details of a potential All-Star Game format change in the NBA. In addition to this, the NBA insider said Clark could be joining the festivities in a version of last year's Steph Curry vs. Sabrina Ionescu three-point contest.
"Curry and Ionescu are in strong conversations to return in a variation of the shootout, which could include other NBA and WNBA players such as Klay Thompson and Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever, sources said," Charania wrote.
Last season's Steph vs. Sabrina three-point contest was a massive success, with the NBA's all-time leader in made three-pointers narrowly defeating the New York Liberty star.
Ionescu named Clark as her preferred partner if the NBA were to expand the competition to a 2v2 format, saying on Nov. 9, "If I would have to choose, I'm taking Caitlin Clark on my team."
Based on this report from Charania, it seems there is some real momentum towards that taking place.
