The Minnesota Vikings reportedly received some excellent news concerning quarterback Sam Darnold to start the week.

After finally appearing to find his footing in the NFL, Darnold took an awkward hit around his knees that forced him to take a trip to the blue medical tent. He would eventually return to the game, but concern still loomed after the win.

Thankfully though per The Athletic's Alec Lewis, it sounds like he's going to be OK.

"Test results on Sam Darnold's knee showed a knee bruise and no structural damage," Lewis reported. "He is not expected to miss any time."

Darnold finished the day 17-of-28 for 181 yards and four touchdowns on the way to a pretty surprising upset of the undefeated Houston Texans.

Speaking to the media during his postgame press conference, the former No. 3 pick admitted he wouldn't know exactly where he stands until he gets an MRI done. But he didn't seem overly concerned.

"We'll evaluate it, we'll look at it, but felt good enough to be able to go back in the game," Darnold said.

Darnold's hit came courtesy of former Viking Danielle Hunter who the QB didn't have any ill will toward.

"Obviously [Hunter's] a great player, and not a dirty player whatsoever," he added.

Right now all signs are pointing towards Sam being able to suit up for next week's rivalry matchup with the Green Bay Packers. But we'll see how he and the team manage the injury over the next few days.
