On Wednesday night the New York Yankees suffered about as heartbreaking a defeat as possible at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Trailing 3-1 in the World Series and needing new life, the Yankees got exactly what they needed when their bats woke up in a big way. Aaron Judge got the party started with a two-run shot before Jazz Chisholm made it back-to-back in the early innings of Game 5. Slugger Giancarlo Stanton added a solo homer of his own as the Yankees raced out to a 5-0 lead.

Unfortunately for the Yankees, their magic ran out as a series of errors allowed the Dodgers to tie - and eventually win - the game. Following the World Series, managers Aaron Boone and Dave Roberts shared a long embrace.

The sign of sportsmanship immediately went viral on social media.

Fans loved it.

"This is what it's all about. Competition. Class. I'd run through a wall for Boone. Win or lose. He did a great job this season and I'm proud to wear the same uniform as this man and his team. #RepBX. We will be back. @Yankees," one fan said.

"Fellow managers who understand the game. Happiness and heartbreak but sharing a moment that will be remembered for all time," offered another.

"Respect and sportsmanship at its finest! Dave Roberts and Aaron Boone showing that, even in competition, there's room for empathy and admiration. A beautiful moment between two," added a third.

Roberts is no stranger to heartbreak in October, so he knows the pain Boone and the Yankees are going through.

It was a classy moment all around.
